Welcome to the Big Nest!
Our Big Nest Day is filled with play, friendship, fun and early academic exposure! The day is organized into specific activities that expose our four-year-olds to language arts, mathematics, science, art, music, movement, Spanish, and much more! There is also plenty of “free-play” time inside and out!
The Big Nest opens at 7:30 a.m. The structure for the day begins at 8:45 a.m. Please have your child here before that time. This is the time when the fundamentals for the day begin. Children are welcomed and are actively involved as a group. We discuss the plan of the day, enjoy songs, sharing and other circle time activities! It is very important to your child’s esteem and development to participate in this group time!
Children are assigned a share day in the Big Nest! This is a great way to express one’s individuality. Children are often very excited to participate. All share items brought from home, should correlate with our current theme. Please no guns, monsters, or violent toys.
Community field trips are a fun and exciting part of the Big Nest Program. Children are transported in the school van and private cars. Field Trips center around our theme and include visits to area parks, the library, and larger attractions.
Children in the Big Nest bring their own lunches in a lunch box or paper bag. School lunches are available for an additional fee. Please refrain from sending items that need to be microwaved. A sandwich, fruit, chips, and a drink are most common. Please try not to include sugary snacks or candies.
In the Big Nest we have a rest time after lunch. Most of the children sleep, others rest quietly on their mats. Parents provide a crib sheet and blanket. These should be clearly marked with a permanent marker. They are left here at Baldwin and laundered regularly.
Afternoon activities include art, music and movement, story-time and outdoor play! The Big Nest closes promptly at 6:00 p.m. Please arrive well before this time in order to gather belongings, visit and sign your child out!
