Welcome to the Bluebirds

Our primary objective in the Baldwin Infant Program is to provide an environment where babies' emotional, social, and physical needs will all be met and cared for by loving and experienced staff members. It is a miraculous and joyful experience to be a part of a tiny infant's life and to see the growth and accomplishments customary to this age. To watch a helpless newborn grow and change into a bright, independent, and unique personality is truly remarkable. It is with that enthusiasm that the Bluebird Program was established.
The Bluebirds will accommodate babies from six weeks through twelve months. Our expertise in this field allows us to prepare those nearing the age of one to graduate to the Parakeets' Nest just next door. For all intents and purposes, we have classified the Bluebirds into the following three categories:
The Stretchers & Snugglers (6 weeks to 3 months):
These are the newest additions to our Baldwin Family. They seem to let you know exactly what they need and when they need it. Outside of that, these babies just want to be loved, held, and cared for. These children are generally fed a bottle every three hours. Breastmilk is welcome, as long as there is enough to satisfy your baby's hunger. It is our policy to change these babies every two hours, as well as any other time it may become necessary. These tiny ones are apt to sleep a lot and we allow them to doze off on an as needed basis.
The Sitters, Crawlers, & Climbers (4 months to 9 months):
These babies are the ones who roll-over, sit-up, and are just starting to become mobile! They like a lot of stimulation, animation, and many hands-on activities. Although they still love to be held and played with, their preference is to explore! These babies still have bottles every three to four hours and most have been introduced to baby foods, starting with cereal! Diapering is still done every two hours and as needed. They generally have two naps each day, a.m. & p.m.—just enough to give them a recharge for all of their busy adventures.
The Wanderers & Walkers (9 months to 14 months):
The top of the crop. These little achievers are well on their way to becoming the busiest babies of the bunch. From standing up with the furniture to taking their first steps, these little ones are action-packed and ready to travel. They generally have a snack in the morning, a noon-time meal, and another snack in the afternoon. Self-feeding is implemented, yet still experimental for most! Bottles will vary depending on the individual need and parental desires. They will be transitioning to sippy cups at about this time. Diapering is still done every two hours and as needed. They begin to need a little less sleep and by twelve months should be able to generate enough energy from one nap during the day! They will surely keep both parents and care-givers very busy, so be prepared!
Baldwin will offer music, reading, sign language, games, and fun for all children in our infant program. By far our chief goal is to offer consistency, love, guidance, and direction to give these babies a wonderful foundation from which to grow, thrive, and mature into the wonderful little people they are meant to be!
